Elizabeth M. Teplica (Betty Tyler) passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Smith House Health Care Center in Stamford. Born on October 22, 1929 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late John Michael and Mary Mazley Teplica. She was 85.

Elizabeth graduated from Darien High School, class of 1949. She was a loving, selfless, caring mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was an on the spot babysitter for her grandchildren anytime she was asked. She was also well known in our neighborhood for her wonderful cooking and anybody was always welcome to come over and have a meal at the Tyler’s house. She loved to ice skate, dance, garden and cook. She taught us to be kind and generous to others and always help ones in need. She didn’t have much but she always shared what she had. If you ever gave our mother a gift you could bet that she gave it away to someone she wanted to have it.   We all laugh about that. She is loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Belden of Kentucky; Keith Tyler of Norwalk, CT; Karen Page of California; Carolyn Bridgman of Middlebury, CT; Kevin Tyler of Bridgeport, CT; Clifford Tyler of Fairfield, CT and Kenny Tyler of Darien, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tommy and Billy Telesco; Rusty and Danny Bridgman; Laura and Julia Belden; Olivia and Kenny Page; Andrea and Jason Tyler; and great grandchildren, Savannah and Oliver Lee. Also surviving is a sister, Josie Ostreicher of Westport, CT.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her former husband, Dale V. Tyler; sister Marion DeForest and brothers, William Teplica and Charles Telpica.

Our mother’s wishes are that her service be private.
