Obituary: Elizabeth Gay Millson-Whitney
Elizabeth Gay Millson-Whitney of Rowayton, who founded a consulting firm and taught Sunday School in Darien, died Thursday, June 28, surrounded by family and friends. She was 49.
Mrs. Millson-Whitney was born to Chris and Judy Millson on April 7, 1963, at Williams Air Force Base in Mesa, Ariz. She attended the University of Virginia, where she received a bachelor of science degree in systems engineering and was a cheerleader.
Mrs. Millson-Whitney began her career at Saks Fifth Avenue in 1989 as a buyer and rose to vice president of merchandise technology. In January 2000, she started Incite! Consulting. Her consulting business served a broad array of clients including Aeropostale, Eli Tahari and Polo Ralph Lauren. Most recently, Mrs. Millson-Whitney served as senior vice president of industry engagement at GS1 US where she played a role in industry leadership helping businesses create and adopt global supply chain standards.
“Gay was a loving mother and a generous, positive spirit,” her family said. “She enjoyed cooking and was an avid runner, completing several New York City Marathons.” She also served on the Board of the Rowayton Little League, taught Sunday school at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and was an Odyssey of the Mind coach.
She is survived her three children, Katherine, Maggie and Robbie; her former husband, Bob, her parents, Chris and Judy Millson, and her siblings, Chris, Peter and Amy.
A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien, on Tuesday, July 3, at 11. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
