Dallas O. Ellingson, a Norwalk resident for over 35 years and member of the Darien VFW, died Wednesday, April 18, at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Ellingson, 70, was the husband of Rose Carroll Ellingson.

Born April 12, 1942 in Mason City, Iowa, he was the son of the late Orvin and Marie Peterson Ellingson.

Mr. Ellingson, a Vietnam War veteran, served in the U.S. Navy. He was a long time member of Darien's VFW Post No. 6933. "His hardworking habits started as a young man in Iowa, were he was employed by various farms," his family said. He was a union pipefitter, working for years with the W.R. Johnson Co. in Stamford. He was also a woodworker building cabinets.

Besides his wife, Mr. Ellingson is survived by a son, Dallas J. Ellingson of Norwalk; a daughter, Heather Drake of Bridgeport; a step-son, David Carroll of Norwalk; two sisters, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Saturday, April 28, from 2-4, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 471 Mansfield Ave., Darien. A memorial service will take place there at 4. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Minister's Discretionary Fund of St. Paul's.
