Charles McKenney, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016, in hospice in Florida. He had lived in Darien for more than three decades, from the 1960s through the 1990s. He raised his family in Noroton and Tokeneke. They were parishioners at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. He and his wife, "Bobo," were renowned as charming hosts of large elegant dinner parties at their house, Captain's Walk, on Searles Road.

Mr. McKenney grew up in Summit, New Jersey, graduated from Pingry and Yale, and got his law degree from the University of Virginia. After serving in the Navy, he practiced patent law as a partner with Pennie & Edmonds in New York City until his retirement. In the summers, he enjoyed golf at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York.

He is survived by his wife, Helaine (Bobo) McKenney, his children, Hobby Coudert, Wensley McKenney, and Philip McKenney, and his grandchildren, Preston and Emerson McKenney, and Matthew and Charlotte Coudert.
