Carole Keyes Braunschweig, born July 25, 1942, passed away on March 16, 2015 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan.

She graduated with a B.A. from the University of Michigan and went on to get her Masters in Library Science at the age of 50. Carole worked in several local libraries throughout her career including King Low Heywood and J.M. Wright Technical schools, as well as Norwalk Community College, the Darien Library and the Harry Bennett branch of the Ferguson Library in Stamford.

She loved her friends and family with great generosity and was often the life of the party. She loved Ireland, where she enjoyed a second home with her late husband John. She also loved everything French, having spent a year in Paris post-college working as a nanny. She lived in Darien, CT where she raised her two children and a well-loved golden retriever and Irish wolfhound.

She travelled the world, loved books, golf and people and had a fierce Irish strength and love of life. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son August Braunschweig, her daughter Katherine Silvan, her son in law Rob Silvan, the light of her life, her grandson, John River Silvan, her sister Kay Lennon and brother Bill Keyes.

Visitation will be held at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue in Stamford, CT on Today, March 23rd from 4pm to 7pm. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Avenue, in Stamford. Donations in Carole’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Talmadge Hill Community Church and Masonicare Home Health and Hospice.
