Carol Elsaesser Squiers, 80, a resident of Greenwich, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 12, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Squiers was born in Buffalo, New York on September 5, 1935, to the late Anna (Hossack) and Edward J. Elsaesser, a Republican Congressman for the 43rd district of the State of New York for two terms in the 1940's.

Mrs. Squiers graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo and from Skidmore College, with a B.A. in English in 1957. She married her college sweetheart, James Squiers, in 1958.  They spent two years in Germany while Jim was stationed in the United States Army. They raised their three daughters in Chappaqua, New York. Mrs. Squiers was a member of the Junior League of Northern Westchester and a member of Whipporwill Country Club.  After obtaining her master’s degree in Education from Manhattanville College, Mrs. Squiers served from 1981 to 2002 as the Principal of Mt. Pleasant Blythedale USFD, a public school in Valhalla, New York for children receiving rehabilitation and medical services at Blythedale Children's Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Squiers enjoyed spending summers in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and winters in Sarasota, Florida. She was a volunteer at Greenwich Hospital and Neighbor to Neighbor.  

Mrs. Squiers is survived by her beloved husband Jim, her three loving daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Rich Terhune of Darien, Debbie Squiers and Richard Mandel of NY, NY and Penny and Matt Miller of Westport, CT, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Ricky, Sarah, Jimmy, Tyler, Alex, Nicholas, Jordan and Paige.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 West Putnam Ave, Greenwich, CT, on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 1 p.m.
