Two more Wednesdays — Darien Farmer’s Market season coming to a close
Need last minute Thanksgiving bounty? Next Wednesday is your last chance for the Darien Farmers' Market.
As winter approaches, so does the end of the Farmer’s Market season at Goodwives Shopping Center. The last day of the market for the 2018 calendar year is on Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. instead of their normal hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Punky from Gazy Brothers Farm spoke about the seasons approaching end, saying, “I like to come down and see everyone and provide them with delicious goods, but you can’t really do this in the snow. This also time when the fields can be fallow and regroup.” She continued, “I have people who have been coming for 13 years and that have been costumers for 25.”
Jordan Filipowich from Wave Hill Breads said, “It’s disappointing. You get to meet a lot of friends from the vendors. I always enjoy having food produce and meeting new people.”
Mark Nicyper from Whistle Stop Bakery spoke about the odd end to the season with the fall weather. “It’s kind of random here. We’re doing thanksgiving and we’re doing orders right now. This year means rain. We’ve been doing this market for 18 years and all this rain has made for a slow market season.”
The farmer’s market will reopen in the spring.
