Middlesex Middle School phone lines down; district pursuing fix
The landlines have been down at Middlesex Middle School since Monday as per emails from school principal Shelley Somers and confirmed by Schools Superintendent Dan Brenner. Calls have been unable to be made or received since the start of the week.
The issue is unclear, Brenner said, saying it is possibly the phone company but school staff is also confirming it isn't an internal issue.
On Monday, Somers sent an email to parents saying "We are having problems with our phones: we are unable to call out or receive incoming calls. If you are trying to reach the attendance line to report an absence, please e-mail Stephanie LaDay at SLaDay@darienps.org. For all other matters, you can email ABall@darienps.org. This is a phone company issue, not internal, and we expect it to be corrected shortly. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Have a good day."
Another email was sent updating parents Tuesday, and on Wednesday morning Somers sent a third email confirming the issue had not yet been resolved and repeated the email contact information in the meantime.
"Good morning. Once again, we are experiencing difficulty with our phone lines: we cannot make or receive calls. To report an absence, please email Stephanie at SLaDay@darienps.org. For any other concerns, please email ABall@darienps.org. Sorry for the inconvenience and have a good day," Somers sent to parents Wednesday morning at 8:18 a.m.
Brenner confirmed to The Darien Times he expects the phone problems should be resolved shortly. In the meantime he advised that parents follow the contact directions sent out by the principal.
