While stationary in my marked police cruiser at Post Road by Noroton Avenue, an Officer observed a red Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on the Post Rd. The vehicle then made a right hand turn onto Old Kings Highway South from the left-hand lane, in violation of street markings. A motor vehicle stop was conducted. A Norwalk man was arrested for DUI after making an improper turn on Post Road near Noroton Avenue on June 1. An officer stopped Jorge Canola, 22, at about 12:30 p.m. for making a right turn onto Old Kings Highway South from the left lane, disobeying traffic signs. Canola told police he had just been picked up from work by his passenger and they were headed back home to Norwalk. Canola told police he did not have his license, and a check of his information showed his driving privileges had been suspended due to multiple instances of driving without a license. Canola was asked to step out of the vehicle and allegedly showed signs of intoxication. He admitted to smoking marijuana just before being pulled over and admitted to having a small amount of the drug with him. He also admitted to drinking prior to driving, though he would not confirm how much. Canola was unable to pass field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI. Canola was asked to submit to a urine test rather than a breath tests to test for drugs other than alcohol. He was released on a $100 cash bond and is due in court June 12.
