Unlocked cars broken into, one stolen in Darien
Motor vehicle break ins
An Edgewood Road resident said they arrived home on Dec. 25 at 10 p.m. and parked their two vehicles in the driveway unlocked. On the morning of Dec. 26, the door of their 2017 Jeep Wrangler was found ajar. Further inspection revealed a flashlight, normally kept in the trunk, on the front driver’s seat. Nothing appeared to be missing. The 2018 Suburban was checked, and appeared to have been entered. The glove box and center console were both ajar, and a blanket was missing from the trunk area.
On Dec. 26, at about 6:30 a.m., a Noroton Avenue resident said she came out to her Jeep Grand Cherokee and found the contents of the glove box on the floor of the passenger’s side. The vehicle had been left unlocked and nothing appeared to be missing.
On the morning of Dec. 26, a Fitch Avenue resident reported their vehicle they had parked in their driveway on Christmas evening missing. The resident told officers the vehicle had been locked, but that a spare key may have been in the other car in the driveway which had been left unlocked. The Tiguan had last been observed in the driveway the night before at about 10 p.m.
