Suspect in identity fraud case charged with possession of child pornography
A suspect in an identity fraud case has been charged with possession of child pornography as a part of an investigation by Darien police. Police arrested Kashai George, 26, of the Bronx, N.Y. for attempted identity theft at Darien’s TD Bank in March.
During the course of the police investigation, George’s phone was seized because it had been used to communicate during the the crime. The phone was searched by detectives, at which time a pornographic video was found.
The video showed what appeared to be an underage girl performing a sex act on an adult man. Due to the suspect residing in New York and potential jurisdictional issues, the FBI was notified and downloaded the contents of the phone.
The FBI was able to determine that the video had not been taken using George’s phone, and further that the video had been previously investigated by law enforcement in Alabama. An arrest had been made in that case in March as well.
Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was sought and granted for George. On August 13th, George was due in Stamford court for the fraud arrest in this case. Detectives from the Darien Police Department went to the Stamford court and took George into custody. George was then transported to the Darien Police Department where she was processed. She was unable to post her $100,000 court set bond and was transported back to Stamford court the following day.
