Police: Stolen car recovered at Darien gas station
Darien police recovered a stolen car from the Shell gas station on Noroton Avenue on March 6. According to police the vehicle had been parked at the station sometime after the business closed on March 4 and abandoned for about 24 hours.
The vehicle in question, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, had apparently suffered motor damage, as a large amount of oil was dripping from the engine. A rear window the Tahoe had been smashed in and was covered over with plastic. Though the vehicle had a temporary registration from New Jersey, a search revealed that the Tahoe had been reported stolen on Jan. 1 in the Bronx.
Police said the vehicle belonged to a Ridgeland, South Carolina resident, though the original plates were not recovered. The vehicle was towed and police notified both the New York Police Department, and the owner.
