A Norwalk woman was arrested for possession and sale of a controlled substance following a police stop along Parklands Drive on Oct. 25. An officer patrolling the area at about 5 p.m. saw a car traveling through an office building parking lot with a dark tint, prompting a traffic stop.

The officer detected the odor of marijuana as he approached the car and identified the driver as Nicole Greenwald, 23, of Norwalk. Greenwald allegedly admitted to having marijuana in the car and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Officers found a purse containing several prescription bottles, marijuana, loose pills and smoking devices as well as a clear plastic bag containing 55 Xanax pills. Greenwald said it was her purse, but one of the prescription bottles belonged to a person who was not present.

Police contacted the prescription’s owner, who acknowledged that it was theirs but did not know how Greenwald had come into possession of it. Greenwald was placed under arrest and charged with sale of marijuana or a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and controlled substances, and illegal obtaining of prescription drugs. She was released on $1,000 bond and given a court date of Nov. 6.
