Darien police charged a Norwalk resident with DUI following a traffic stop on Oct. 20. An officer patrolling Post Road near Old Kings Highway South stopped a driver travelling at a high rate of speed at about 2:45 a.m. The car had been traveling through a construction zone and both traffic control signs and workers were in the area.

The officer clocked the vehicle at 45mph and saw the car cross the median line into the closed portion of the road. Upon stopping the vehicle the officer identified the driver as Stephanie Canales, 24, of Norwalk. He allegedly detected the odor of alcohol coming from her person and asked her to submit to field sobriety tests.

Canales was unable to perform the test to standards and was placed under arrest for DUI. A breathalyzer test at Darien Police Department showed a blood alcohol level of .148 at 3:20 a.m. Canales posted a $200 cash bond and was released with a court date of Oct. 30.
