Noroton Fire Department assists with capsized boat rescue near Stamford
Noroton Fire Department Marine Unit 34 assisted on a call Friday at 7 p.m. that a boat had capsized and three people on board were in the water calling for help.

The location was described as south of Shippan Point off Stamford. Noroton Fire worked with boats from Norwalk Fire, Stamford Fire and Police, Greenwich Fire, and Darien Police.
The vessel was located by Stamford Fire and all passengers got to shore safely
Marine 34 is the only firefighting and rescue capable marine unit in the town of Darien. It allows Noroton to respond year-round to the various types of emergencies that occur on Long Island Sound, including Marine fires, man overboard calls, and search and rescue operations. It also features a thermal imaging camera on board which will aid rescue operations year round.
Darien Police also have a police boat to respond to emergencies and enforce local boating laws.
