According to Darien police, 22 car burglaries have been reported in the past week, and in each and every case the car was left unlocked. While most victims were lucky enough to not have anything stolen, the suspects made off with several hundred dollars worth of cash and merchandise.

On April 11 a wallet containing three credit cards was stolen from a Cherry Street vehicle and $30 in cash and a pair of sunglasses were taken from a car on Hamilton Lane. On April 15, a Woods End Road resident reported more than $125 worth of gift cards and merchandise stolen from their car, and a Ridge Acres Road resident had a $250 pair of sunglasses taken as well.

Police are continuing the investigation but ask that residents keep their cars locked.
