Police are investigating a series of overnight car burglaries reported in the area of Walmsley Road on March 21. One or more suspects opened at least six unlocked cars on Walmsley Road, Fitch Avenue and Cherry Street, including one car that had been left in an unlocked garage.

Most of the victims did not have any valuables in their car at the time of the incident, but one Walmsley Road resident reported a $1,500 Chloe purse stolen from their car, along with $70 in cash and two credit cards. A Fitch Avenue resident also reported a $125 Kate Spade wallet and a Kindle Fire tablet stolen. In each case, the contents of the car’s glove compartment and center console were found strewn around the inside of the vehicle.

Police regularly advise residents to keep their cars locked when parked and to secure all valuables before leaving their vehicle.
