Darien teen booked for providing alcohol to minors
Police arrested an 18-year-old Darien resident for providing alcohol to minors and risk of injury to a minor on Aug. 19. Police responded to a noise complaint at a Country Club Road home at 2:30 a.m. Officers saw a group of youths in the kitchen as the approached the home, and met with the party’s 18-year-old host at the door. The teen told police his parents were away from home and he had invited friends over without their knowledge.
Officers noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and had an odor of alcohol on his person. The 18-year-old admitted to drinking alcohol at the party and acknowledged that some of the other guests were underage as well.
While walking through the home police found 10 underage party goers who had been drinking. They contacted the host’s mother, who noted that she was away in New York and there was not supposed to be anyone staying at the house.
Police required each of the underage drinkers to have a parent pick them up from the scene. The host admitted to acquiring the alcohol for the party but did not explain exactly how it was purchased. A neighbor came to help ensure that the party was over. The party’s host was placed under arrest for the above charges and released 12 hours later when his bond was posted.
