Darien divorcees charged in domestic dispute
Police arrested two Darien residents following a domestic dispute on April 10. According to police, the two involved parties are in the process of a divorce and both received charges for disorderly conduct.
Just before 11 p.m. on April 10, one of the involved parties visited the other’s home at Avalon in Darien to deliver a case of water and remove the license plates from a car he was giving to the other person as a part of the divorce agreement. The person receiving the car became upset when the license plates were removed, prompting an argument. The visiting party told police he attempted to leave but the other person followed and slapped his phone out of his hand. Though this did not cause an injury, it led to the police being contacted.
The other person told police that the complainant did not have the right to take the license plates from the vehicle, and that he had grabbed her wrist during their argument. Based on the officer’s investigation at the scene both individuals were given misdemeanor summonses for disorderly conduct. They were released on a promise to appear in court on April 11.
