UPDATE: A single-car accident knocked down a utility pole near Nielsen's Florist, shutting down the Post Road at Hecker Avenue. The pole is at a 45-degree angle to the road and is suspended by the adjacent poles. The driver was not trapped by the pole. CL&P is also on scene, and reported no power outages as of 11:15 a.m.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

A motor vehicle accident on the Post Road near Nielsen's Florist left a utility pole on top of a vehicle just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to police transmissions. The pole was also attached to a primary wire and transformer. Injuries were reported, and the Darien-EMS Post 53 responded. It is unclear if there is a person trapped in the vehicle.

Connecticut Light & Power was also called to respond the downed utility pole. The road is currently operating as a one-way street.
