A female pedestrian was struck and hit in Darien while walking her dog on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 5, according to Darien Police.
A vehicle traveling westbound was approaching the intersection of Hollow Tree Ridge Road. The vehicle came to a stop at the posted stop sign. As the vehicle began to pull forward from the stopped position, it struck a pedestrian in the marked crosswalk.
The Pedestrian had been walking southbound on Hollow Tree Ridge Road, and was attempting to cross Middlesex Road at the marked crosswalk. As the pedestrian entered the crosswalk, they were struck by the involved vehicle.
The pedestrian complained of injury and was transported from the scene by Post 53.
The operator of the vehicle, a 47 year old male from White Plains, New York,  was issued an infraction citing them failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian and operating a motor vehicle.
The pedestrian told The Darien Times the hit resulted in her breaking her wrist in three places but she was grateful to not have had more serious injuries. The dog was unharmed.
