Darien’s Human Services Department has announced Ali Ramsteck, LCSW, has been promoted to director of human services effective April 17 and Cynthia Hall has joined the staff of the Human Services Department as a case manager effective June 26.

Ramsteck has been with Darien’s Department of Human Services since January 2012, starting as a part-time case manager and most recently serving as the full-time assistant director of Human Services.  She also worked for eight years at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell Westchester Division, in White Plains, New York. Ramsteck holds a master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in human development and sociology from Boston College.

Cynthia Hall was most recently employed as a social service provider for the last two and a half years with the Town of Greenwich’s Human Services Department.  She previously served as a senior social worker at Forever Young Social Adult Day Care in the Bronx and as a bilingual clinician at Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance in Norwalk.

Hall is a licensed social worker with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from the University of Bridgeport and a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University.

Later this month, the Department of Human Services will be sponsoring a back-to-school program which helps eligible Darien school children get off to a good start with backpacks, school supplies and gift certificates for shoes or sneakers. Last year, the back-to-school program served 130 Darien school children and the number is expected to increase this year. The Department of Human Services is accepting donations of new school supplies and is in urgent need of new, large backpacks (which can be purchased at Costco or any major retailer).

The back-to-school program is one of the many services that the Department of Human Services provides to the residents of Darien. Those interested in any of these programs should contact the Department of Human Services at 203-656-7328. The office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Town Hall, Room 109.
