Darien Library’s concert series, Music in the Stacks, returns on Sunday, July 16 at 5 p.m. with music straight from the Great White Way.

The Florian Schantz Jazz Combo will present a program of classic instrumental Broadway music and other standards spanning 5 decades, featuring familiar tunes by Cole Porter, Lerner and Lowe, Kander and Ebb, George Gershwin, Jerry Herman and many more. The concert will feature a variety of upbeat and lively tunes, mixed with ballads and other show tune classics. The performance will be complemented with an interactive historical commentary about the songs, composers and musicals. Refreshments will be served

The Florian Schantz Jazz Combo is led by 14 year old trumpet, Flügelhorn and cornet player Florian Schantz, who formed the band since he was 9 years old with almost 300 performances across the tri-state area and Germany. The band is currently performing its 3rd annual multi-state library tour, having performed programs at over 2 dozen libraries over the past year and a half.
