Calling all Democrats — join Tilley Pond rally

To the Editor:

Calling all Democrats! Come rally in advance of the midterm elections with United States Senator Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut’s next Governor Ned Lamont and Congressman Jim Himes at Tilley Pond Park across from the Darien Train Station on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 2 p.m. Other state and local Democratic candidates and elected officials from Fairfield County and various grass roots organizations will be there too.

This will be a fast and fun event for the whole family. Meet fellow Democrats and show your true-blue colors on Sunday at Tilley Pond. Don’t be late!

Rally is a chance to answer the call

To the Editor:

It is time for us to raise our voices, to participate, to stand for the issues and values that are central in the upcoming election. We have to stand for basic values such as women's reproductive rights, a clean environment and an affordable health care. In addition, strengthen our gun safety laws by taking a stand against the NRA to enact reasonable gun-safety regulations such as universal background checks that are supported by the vast majority of Americans.

Please come and join us with Senator Dick Blumenthal, Congressman Jim Himes and gubernatorial candidate Ned Lamont and other leaders at the “Rally for the Democratic Blue Wave” at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21 at Darien’s Tilley Pond Park. The rally is a chance to answer the call: to raise your voice, to participate, to stand for the issues and values that are central in the upcoming election.

Public health and safety should not be taken for granted

To the Editor:

Public health and safety of the residents of Connecticut cannot be taken for granted. We have come a long way in preventing disease and promoting health. In Connecticut we have some of the strictest gun laws in the country. We are also fortunate to have good access to health care and coverage that addresses preexisting conditions. To ensure that we keep these health and safety measures in place, please join me Sunday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in Tilley Pond Park Darien and rally to get out the vote in support of our Democratic candidates and elected officials.

It’s time to rally

To the Editor:

It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light. Aristotle.

Each day since 2016 I have had to focus harder and harder to see the light of the American character and spirit that guides me. Compassion, honesty, hard work, respect. It is only by focusing and working together that we can take back our nation by electing leaders that mindfully guide us forward. So please join me and our neighbors on Sunday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in Tilley Pond Park to Rally for the Democratic Blue Wave. Rally for what our founding fathers and mothers began 242 years ago. Rally to make the 2018 midterms the point that we the tide turns.

The cure for anything is salt water. Sweat, tears or the sea. We’ve sweated. We’ve cried. Now it’s time to leverage the third cure — let’s build a Democratic blue wave so big on Nov. 6 that it strengthens our national soul.

See you at Tilley Pond. It’s time to rally.
