Letter: New Republican Town Committee chairman, vice chairman chosen

To the Editor:

Chris Taylor was elected to chairman and Alex Davidson was elected vice chairman of the Darien Republican Town Committee at our meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10.  I’ve served as a member of the Darien RTC for five years including more than two as Chairman. I am very proud of our many accomplishments during this time. We have an energized and united Republican Party in Darien. I am most proud of the fact that we have been able to successfully attract unaffiliated and Democrat registered voters to our events.

The residents in Darien, regardless of party affiliation, understand that our town is going to receive less services if we elect another Democratic Governor. Darien has been under attack by Bob Duff and our Democratic-led legislature, and our future includes higher property and personal income taxes, declining home values, crowded trains and roads, tolls on our highways and the list goes on. Our goal over the last few years has been to educate our residents on the “state of affairs” in Connecticut. At the local level our Republican leadership, led by Jayme Stevenson, has continued to deliver attractive budgets with no reduction in services. We’ve quickly filled vacancies on our town Boards & Commissions with qualified Republican (and unaffiliated) candidates. I want to thank Terrie Wood and our selectmen for their support, and their tireless effort working on behalf of Darien. We are in good hands with Chris Taylor, and I look forward to continuing to serve Darien in another volunteer capacity.
