Darien pedestrian hit in crosswalk again Thursday morning, suffers minor injuries

For the second time in less than two weeks, a pedestrian was hit while using the crosswalk in Darien, according to Darien Police.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, a vehicle struck a pedestrian using the crosswalk on Post Road at Center Street.

The vehicle was turning left from Center Street onto the Post Road. The pedestrian was crossing from the Dunkin’ Donuts side of the road back towards CVS. The pedestrian was transported to Stamford hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

On March 5, a female pedestrian was struck and hit in Darien while walking her dog that afternoon.
A vehicle traveling westbound was approaching the intersection of Hollow Tree Ridge Road. The vehicle came to a stop at the posted stop sign. As the vehicle began to pull forward from the stopped position, it struck a pedestrian in the marked crosswalk.
The Pedestrian had been walking southbound on Hollow Tree Ridge Road, and was attempting to cross Middlesex Road at the marked crosswalk. As the pedestrian entered the crosswalk, they were struck by the involved vehicle.
The pedestrian was transported to Stamford Hospital and told The Darien Times she had broken her wrist in three places as a result.
