Giving Tuesday, which is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, is a movement to create a worldwide day of giving.

Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday supports giving and philanthropy with year-round events and opportunities to give to those who are less fortunate.

Darien residents don’t have to look far to contribute on Giving Tuesday, since there are plenty of opportunities to do so right in town.

Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson said that one of the many “wonderful” things about the town of Darien is the “compassion and generosity of our residents and businesses.”

“Giving Tuesday, purposefully timed just after Thanksgiving, presents an opportunity to channel the spirit of the holiday season by digging a little deeper and giving to one of our local non-profit organizations,” Stevenson said. “Our nonprofits are truly the safety net for our communities and I encourage everyone to make the extra effort this year to give generously this Giving Tuesday, November 27.”
