Darien nonprofit welcomes new CEO
Person-to-Person is pleased to announce the selection of Nancy Coughlin as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Coughlin follows Person-to-Person’s previous long-term CEO, Ceci Maher, who retired from the organization this month. Ms. Maher led the agency for the past 14 years, and in that time, P2P has grown to a thriving community supported agency with thousands of volunteers and three locations.
With P2P now serving more than 24,000 individuals annually, across seven communities in Lower Fairfield County, Ceci has been instrumental in the growth and success of the organization’s programs. Most recently, she championed P2P on Wheels, a 32-foot mobile food pantry with a casework office, which makes it possible to serve nearly 160 families each week with casework assistance and fresh food for homemade meals. With the addition of P2P on Wheels, P2P is on track to provide food for 1.2 million meals to families in need in 2019. Person-to-Person anticipates that Ms. Coughlin will leverage these achievements to help the organization continue to expand to meet the growing and unmet needs of more Fairfield County residents.
“We are very excited to have Nancy taking on the role of the CEO of Person-to-Person,” says Victoria de Toledo, P2P Board President. “Nancy brings to the job incredible commitment to our mission and a keen intelligence and willingness to work extremely hard to meet the needs of our community.” Nancy Coughlin joins Person-to-Person after serving the last seven years as the Executive Director at Neighbor to Neighbor, a Greenwich-based organization dedicated to providing food and clothing to low income families and children. She is a 20-year Darien resident who has been active in several local organizations including the YWCA Darien/Norwalk, Royle School PTO, and the Methodist Family Center Preschool. She has expertise and experience in food insecurity, anti-poverty, and women's and children's issues.
“Having lived and worked in Fairfield County for many years, I have seen firsthand the numbers of our neighbors struggling to make ends meet and also have been privileged to witness the impact of local residents giving back to the community. I am excited to work with this exceptional team to support individuals and families as they move toward financial stability,” says Coughlin. “Person-to-Person is a leader in this sector and I’m looking forward to bringing the work of this essential organization to more people in our community.”
Ms. Coughlin received a BA in Psychology from the Univerity of New Hampshire, and a J.D. from the Suffolk University Law School. In 2012, Ms. Coughlin was selected as one of 10 inaugural Executive Leadership Group (ELG) members by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. She has served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Greenwich United Way Community Planning Council, Junior League of Greenwich Community Advisory Board, and Needs Clearing House Advisory Board. Ms. Coughlin started her role of CEO on June 27, 2019.
