The Darien YMCA “Y” Cares Club met on Sunday, Dec. 10, with a few of its high school club members engaging in charitable activities including putting up a Community Giving Tree.

The Community Giving Tree at the Darien Y is open for the entire community until Dec. 21 to make a donation to help someone in need.  The items donated will be given to the Bridgeport YMCA Emergency Shelter.  Items needed for donation include both adult and child sizes of new or gently worn hats, gloves, mittens and scarves (no clothes or coats, please). The Community Giving Tree was generously donated in 2013 by the Kiwanis Club.

The Darien Y is also collecting gift cards to Walmart and Walgreens (both are located in Houston and Puerto Rico) to donate to the Houston YMCA and San Juan YMCA for their hurricane relief efforts.  Gift cards can be dropped off at the Y’s front desk until Dec. 21.
