Darien Scouts win honors at district camporee
Darien Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and STEM Venture Crew all attended the Powahay District Camporee held at Hoyt Scout Reservation from October 19-21. In this annual District-wide campout, Scouts from Darien, Stamford, New Canaan, Norwalk and Wilton participate with their families in a themed weekend. This year the theme was medieval times, and Scout troops led activities including making catapults, jousting, field first aid, water balloon mortar launches, and others.
Darien’s Troop 53 achieved second place in Patrol competition and earned second place in the overall super troop competition. The Troop also came in second in the Ultimate Frisbee competition. Competitions such as these give Scouts a chance to hone skills and allow newer scouts the chance to show what they know.
The Darien Scouting program is always open to new Scouts in grades K-12. Starting this year, our programs are open to girls as well as boys. Stop by a Boy Scout meeting at the Scout Cabin 140 West Ave in Darien on Monday night at 7:30 or Tuesday nights at 7 or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
