The annual town of Darien Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday. May 28.  As in past years, the parade route runs from Goodwives Shopping Center on Old King's Highway North, up Brookside Road out to the Boston Post Road and ends at the Veterans Cemetery located at Post Road and Hecker Ave.  The parade steps off promptly at 10 a.m.

Motorists are advised to expect delays in the downtown area between 9:30 and 12:30 p.m. as the Post Road will be closed to all traffic for the safety of participants and spectators.  The Darien Police Department will have a full complement of officers stationed along the parade route to assist with road closures as well as ensuring pedestrian and spectator safety.

There will be a Memorial Day ceremony held at the Veteran’s Cemetery at the conclusion of the parade and the annual Post 53 Food Fair will be held in Tilley Pond Park; All Memorial Day events are rain or shine.

"The Darien Police Department wishes all of our residents and guests a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend as we pause to reflect on the freedoms we share and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure these freedoms," the police said.
