Darien Parks and Recreation is holding an event to celebrate Valentine's Day. Something Sweet will  include a dessert war and gift boutique. This event will be on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Mather Center at 2 Renshaw Road from 12 to 3 p.m.

Something Sweet will allow guests to indulge with samples of some of the area’s best desserts from local eateries, such as Chocolate Works of Darien, Browne and Co., Sono Baking Co., Whole Foods and The Goose. Participants taste all the samples and then vote for the best sweet tooth cure in town. Who will be crowned the favorite dessert of the 2018 Something Sweet Dessert War? Samples of every dessert are guaranteed to the first 250 dessert war participants.

There will also be plenty of shopping opportunities for those who might want to delight others this Valentine’s Day.

Vendors include Lady Ming, Chloe & Isabel and Touchstone Crystal; Apparel collections of Lularoe, Patrice1 and some choices men’s choices from Soxfords; Some creative food items will also be offered such as HiRiseHive (honey products) and Chocolate Moonshine (fudge).

This is a family-friendly event where everyone is welcome. Free kids activities will be offered, including cookie decorating activities and face painting all provided thanks to the support of the Darien Police Association.

Tickets are $5 at the door for a tasting of all the dessert samples. Vendors will be selling their products with different price ranges. You can also test your luck in a pick-your-prize drawing where tickets are also $5 with the opportunity to win various vendor items, gift certificates and other prizes. The drawings will take place at 2:30 p.m.; you do not have to be present to win.
