Darien Boy Scouts hold STEM crew open house Thursday, girls invited to learn about program Sunday
STEM venture crew to hold open house Thursday
High-school age girls and boys who are interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and enjoy engaging in community service are invited to an open house for the STEM Venture Crew Unit 353 to be held on Thursday Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Andrew Shaw Memorial Scout Cabin, 140 West Avenue.
The STEM Venture Crew offers opportunities for high school students who have a passion for STEM-related subjects and careers to develop STEM experiments, activities, and curriculum; learn to run their organization as a business research team; and become qualified to teach STEM programs to elementary-school-age children in local after-school and summer programs. Meet new friends and mentors, gain training and experience in STEM fields, and earn service hours in this unique Crew, which is the first of its kind in the nation. Pizza will be served and new members are welcome at any time. For more information, contact Patrick Gentile at email@example.com.
