Police investigating theft of wallet, cash from Darien businesses
Police are investigating two suspects for the theft of a wallet and cash from two separate Darien businesses on Feb. 6. A 61-year-old White Plains, N.Y., woman first reported her wallet stolen while shopping at Everything Is Rosey. She contacted police at about 11:30 a.m. and reported that the wallet had been stolen out of her purse while it was left unattended in the store. The woman reported $800 in cash inside of her wallet along with several credit cards.
She was being helped by an employee for a brief time before the wallet went missing, and two other women were in the area near her purse. The two women were described as being between 24 and 28 years old, and possibly of Latin descent. One of the women had long, dark hair with pink/purple tips while the other had purple hair shaved close to her head
By the time the wallet was discovered to be missing, the women had left the store, but a canvass of nearby stores showed that the women had visited at least one other location on the same day. A 36-year-old Wilton woman told police she had $170 in cash stolen from her purse while working at A Little Something White on Feb. 6. The employee contacted police after realizing the women described in the police alert matched the description of two women she had helped earlier that day. She had left her purse unattended near a fitting room door while helping the women. No other cash or items were reported missing. A police investigation is ongoing.
