Palmer’s Gifts: Your one-stop holiday shop
During the season of giving and holiday cheer you can’t show up empty-handed.
Finding stylish hostess gifts, holiday decor, toys, gourmet gift baskets and even clothing is as simple as a trip to the grocery store — if you choose the right grocery store.
Palmer’s Gift Shop is part and parcel of the one-stop shopping experience Palmer’s Market in Darien creates for customers.
Renee Nieto, the gift wares manager at Palmer’s, explains, “You can get your groceries, your cake, your candles, your card, your gift, all in one trip.”
Located within the market, the gift shop offers a top selection of candles, home decor, clothing, accessories, bath & body items, kitchenware and gadgets, year-round. Displays change regularly in order to add new items and highlight the season. Last week, the team at the store were busy turning the front of the shop into a wonderland of Christmas and holiday gifts.
“We like to keep a lot of hostess gifts on hand as there is a lot of entertaining in this town, all year long,” Renee said. “Christmas is the biggest holiday at the gift shop, of course.”
Beautiful ornaments, decorations and a touch of Christmas quirk — including a mistletoe headband or a light-up necklace — are perfect gifts for a Yankee Swap or a Secret Santa.
“I like to bring in some fun, quirky stuff,” Renee said. “You won’t find it anywhere else and you can’t resist.”
Gift baskets packed with fine food from the market are a popular choice for any occasion, according to Renee. Baskets are customizable or customers can choose from selections like “Sweet & Savory,” “Chocolate Lovers,” “Gluten-free” and “Palmer’s Picks,” to name a few.
“We put full-size gourmet items in our baskets, no sample sizes,” Renee said. “And, we use products you won’t find at regular grocery store.”
New items arrive almost daily at Palmer’s Gift Shop and each is hand-selected by Renee at national shows in New York and Atlanta. Year-round, She looks for new brands and styles to add.
“It never gets boring here,” Renee said. “I have customers come in every day and tell me ‘I just love to look around. I never know what I’m going to find.’”
In addition to offering convenience and style, Palmer’s Gift Shop is an opportunity to shop local this season, supporting a nearly 100-year family business.
“We aren’t just a grocery store and we haven’t been for some time,” Renee said. “The biggest thing I tell people is, if you haven’t been here, put it on your to-do list — it’s worth the trip from anywhere.”
