Darien police arrested a 33-year-old Stamford woman for driving while under the influence during the early morning hours of March 18. An officer traveling south on I-95 saw the accused's vehicle was traveling at an unusually slow rate of speed on the highway, causing a backup in traffic. After observing the vehicle change lanes without signaling, the officer attempted to a traffic stop as approached they rest area near I-95 Exit 10. After some time the driver complied, pulling over near the rest stop's exit. The driver was identified as Charleen Merced-Agosto, 33, of Stamford. She told police she was on her way home to Stamford from Bridgeport. Police said Merced-Agosto showed signs of intoxication at the scene and did not pass field sobriety tests. She was subsequently arrested and processed at the police department. Breathalyzer tests taken at the time of arrest showed blood alcohol levels of .1778 and .1677. Merced-Agosto was released on $50 cash bond with a court date of March 28.
