Sunny skies and mild temperatures are forecast for Connecticut this weekend, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-80s in some areas on Sunday. After more than an inch of rain fell Thursday in parts of the state, Friday is dawning clear and cool, with temperatures hovering in the low 60s. Expect temps to rise to the low-to mid-70s as the day progresses, with breezy winds gusting up to 25 to 30 mph, the weather service said. Overnight, there will be mostly clear skies with temperatures dropping back down into the 50s, the weather service said. On Saturday, there will be plenty of sun with highs in the mid-70s, the weather service said. It will be less windy, with gusts hitting around 20 mph in the afternoon along the coast. Overnight, temperatures will drop down to the 60's with clear skies remaining. On Sunday, it will be sunny again with highs reaching the mid-80s along the coast, and slightly cooler inland. No warnings or watches have been issued for Connecticut, but nearby a high surf advisory has been issued for parts of the Long Island Atlantic coastline through Saturday evening. A similar advisory is also in effect for parts of coastal Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including Block Island and Nantucket, through Friday evening.
