WATERBURY — Police have identified the man killed on East Main Street Saturday as a 28-year-old city resident.

Sebastian Olavarria was allegedly fatally shot by the owner of Mikey’s Jamaican Restaurant during a dispute around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, according to Lt. Ryan Bessette.

Michael Anderson, 61, was charged with murder, first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm, Bessette said.

“Investigators determined that an altercation occurred just earlier outside of Mikey’s Jamaican Restaurant between the male victim and (Anderson) ... who is also the owner of the restaurant,” Bessette said previously. “During the altercation, Anderson pulled out a firearm from his possession and fatally shot the male victim.”

Anderson was arrested and held in lieu of a $2 million bond, Bessette said.

He asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Waterbury Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 203-574-6941 or Crime Stoppers at 203-755-1234.
