Visiting Nurses offers caregiver support
Caring for a loved one who is ill can be exhausting -- emotionally and physically. The needs of a person with a chronic disease or debilitating condition can be overwhelming and often become the central focus of the caregiver's life. The caregiver can experience a combination of fear, loneliness, grief and isolation.
the Caregivers' Support Group will meet on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3 p.m. through May 29. The support group is open to the public but pre-registration is required. There is no fee for participation.
"Any person caring for a family member with a chronic disease or condition finds that their independence and freedom are replaced by stress and exhaustion," Nanette Greene, MA, LPC, a grief and bereavement counselor with Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, said. "Caregivers need a place to talk about their feelings and what they are dealing with day-to-day, a place where they can exchange information and find understanding that isn't available anywhere else."
The Caregivers' Support Group will be held at the offices of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County in Suite 114 of the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at I-Park.
