DARIEN — An unlocked vehicle and a smash-and-grab resulted in two cars in town being burglarized.

On Jan. 2, an Overbrook Lane resident reported someone entered her 2018 Audi Q7 left parked in her driveway while she was on vacation from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31. The woman told police she believed she’d locked the car, but the door was found ajar and there was no sign of a forced entry. Ten dollars in loose change was stolen.

Several days later on Jan. 7, a 2016 BMW X6, parked outside the Old Kings Highway Tennis Club, had its rear driver’s side window smashed. The complainant said he parked his car outside the Old Kings Highway North establishment around 10:30 a.m. When he returned to his car around noon, he found the window smashed and the glove box had been left open. Six months of pay stubs belonging to the victim were stolen from the glove box and two empty bank bags were stolen from the backseat.

The victim told police he had left the car locked. No other cars in the lot were burglarized.
