The works of New Canaan artist Maryann V. Piotrowski and Carolina Dewez-Reyna of Greenwich will be on display in the Gratia Gillespie Art Gallery at Atria Darien, 50 Ledge Road, through February.

An opening reception will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Piotrowski began painting 20 years ago on a whim. A writer and teacher, she began with watercolor, moving to Chinese brush painting, pastels and finally to oil. She is drawn to paintings of the outdoors ,including trees, flowers, landscapes and buildings. She has studied at DeCordova Museum School, Lexington Art Association, Rowayton Art Center, Silvermine Art Association and the Greenwich Art Society. She has shown her paintings at Lexington Art Society, the Carriage Barn of New Canaan, the Sidewalk Art Show, Greenwich Art Society and the Bush-Holley House.

Dewez-Reyna's interest in art started as a teenager when she began designing small tapestries depicting town life and flowers. After graduating from college, she began to focus on the effect of light on shapes. Bright, vibrant colors are of particular interest to her and she enjoys using different brush strokes to create her own world of texture.

She was born and raised in Argentinia. She has taken courses at Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan and the Greenwich Art Society. Juried exhibits include Art to the Avenue, the Flinn Gallery, the Bendheim Galleries of the Greenwich Arts Council and the Bush-Holley House.
