A theft was reported at Darien Auto Specialists Thursday, April 12 at 4:17 p.m.

As a New Canaan resident was pumped gas he placed his wallet on top of the pump in order to answer a phone call. When he finished pumping gas he drove off, forgetting he left his wallet behind, police said.

Upon returning to the station, the man discovered his wallet was gone, according to the report. In a surveillance video, a four-door sedan pulled up to the same pump at 4:41 p.m.. A white male, 30 to 40 years old, who wore a button down dress shirt and dress slacks, pumped gas, retrieved the wallet, placed it in his vehicle and drove off. Credit cards were not used, police said.
