DARIEN — A talk show host and former “Jerry Springer” bodyguard was injured when his car flipped over on West Avenue.

Police said Steve Wilkos, a Darien resident, was found inside his car, which had flipped on its side, about 4:20 p.m. Jan. 21 on West Avenue near Turnabout Lane. According to police, the car was lying in the eastbound lane and had heavy damage. Police said it appeared the car had struck several roadside objects.

Wilkos, 53, was taken to Stamford Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Wilkos has been the host of “The Steve Wilkos Show” since 2007. The show films in Stamford.

“I feel lucky to be alive after seeing my car. I am so thankful to the first responders from Post 53 and our local police department in Darien, CT, as well as all the wonderful people who took care of me at Stamford Hospital,” Wilkos told Fox News in a statement.

Police said they are still investigating the accident and will not release any further information.
