Stamford woman tries to unleash the law
Lynne Ward, 61, of Norwalk, was charged with interfering with an officer, failure to license a dog and violation of a Darien Park and Recreation Regulation concerning dogs off a leash in a town park Tuesday, June 12.
Police said an animal control officer observed Ward with an unleashed dog at Cherry Lawn Park at about 9 a.m. When the officer approached Ward and said he would issue a ticket, Ward began walking toward her vehicle. The officer followed Ward and asked for her license in order to write the ticket;she refused to provide it. She further stated she would not be receiving a ticket, and left the area in her vehicle.
The police report noted the officer was in full uniform and had been operating a fully-marked town animal control van.
The officer recorded Ward's vehicle registration. She was identified as the owner of the vehicle and later contacted by Darien police via telephone. Ward refused to cooperate with the investigating officer and ended the call.
The report said officers went to her residence, where Ward continued to be uncooperative. She was issued a misdemeanor summons and will appear in court June 25.
