Soon-to-be-demolished Outlook Drive house has melancholy message for Post Road drivers

Darien and surrounding area residents are not surprised when houses are demolished to make way for new ones.

However, getting a farewell message from a house might be a new experience for the area.

The house on the corner of Outlook Drive and the Post Road received some last minute artwork over the weekend when Norwalk artist Brian Kaspr did a custom mural for the house's final days. Kaspr told The Darien Times he had been seeking a structure soon to be demolished to create his artwork.

He had originally attempted to do his work on a structure set for demolition in New Canaan but was turned down. When he saw the back hoe in the yard of the Outlook Drive house, he tried his luck again — and the building company agreed. A time lapse video of the mural's creation is in the works.

According to Darien's building department, the only plans so far for the house, owned by an LLC,  are an imminent demolition along with another house on the same street.
