Snow, ice hitting through Tuesday morning for Darien, area
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southern Fairfield County, northeast New Jersey and southern Westchester from now through Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.
There will be two parts to the winter storm. A wintry mix this afternoon will turn to leave to rain over Sunday night. Rain will turn back into snow Monday through Monday night.
Plan on slippery road conditions which could affect holiday travel and Monday morning’s commute.
A coastal flood advisory is also in effect from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. during times of high tide. One to two feet of inundation above ground level are possible in low lying, vulnerable areas. There is a low threat of property damage. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tideswill combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
