Saturday: Mather Homestead to hold fall harvest festival
The Mather Homestead will hold its second annual Homestead Harvest Festival on Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Featuring cider, pony rides, historical games and crafts, the event will allow visitors to taste a piece of Darien’s history and enjoy the beautiful property. New this year, the event will feature more food vendors, including local favorites NEAT, Jen Maher’s Little Bites and Jennifer’s Kitchen. Families can also participate in our “Save the Silver!” scavenger hunt while learning about the Tory raid on the home during the Revolutionary War.
Locally-based businesses Sail to Sable, The Two Oh Three and Merrimane have donated items for a fall fashion raffle to help The Mather Homestead build its education programs and other Darien businesses, such as ERI Building & Design, have signed on as a sponsors.
“We are thankful for our local business owners who love our history, believe in our cause and are willing to help us grow,” said Swenson
In addition to tours by appointment and during community events, the Mather Homestead will also begin offering a regular monthly tour on Sundays at 1pm. Tour dates this fall are Oct. 21st, Nov. 18 and December 9th. Walk-ins are welcome or reservations can be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Homestead Harvest Fest tickets are now on sale online at the cost of $10 per adult and $5 per child. Children under 3 can attend free. Tickets can be purchased at www.matherhomestead.org/harvest-festival.
