Sails and P2P host successful coat drive
Sails American Grill and Person-to-Person of Darien collected close to 100 gently-used coats during November to benefit those in need in the local community. According to Sails and P2P, residents showed gift-giving does not have to equate spending money and that generosity can make a big difference.
During the drive, SAILS awarded a voucher for a complimentary glass of wine or dessert of choice for every coat donation. Due to the overwhelming response, SAILS and Person-to-Person have extended the drive through Dec. 31.
"We are truly touched by the amount of people that donated all sizes of coats and we thank Person-to-Person for partnering with us," Terry McSpedon, general manager of Sails, said. "We look forward to many more collaborations with local organizations and continuing our support for Person-to-Person."
Person-to-Person is a volunteer-driven, community-based agency that, through a sharing of goods and services, responds to neighbors who lack basic necessities and resources to improve their lives. Person-to-Person offers assistance to clients in four key areas: emergency assistance, scholarship programs, campership programs and holiday programs. More than 90 percent of all donations goes directly to programs. For more information, visit www.p2pdarien.org.
Sails American Grill is located in the village of Rowayton, adjacent to the Five Mile River Harbor. The restaurant has earned a "Don't Miss," the highest accolade given in a review, by the New York Times. Catering to sailors and non-sailors alike, Sails is, as the name implies, a grill serving a wide variety of seafood and non-seafood items in an atmosphere reminiscent of a yacht club.
