DARIEN — Someone has been entering a unit at the Avalon apartment complex to watch television.

On Feb. 23 around 5 p.m., police responded to the Hollow Tree Ridge Road community to meet with a 50-year-old resident who said someone had been in his apartment.

The man lives alone in a building in the center of the complex, near the swimming pool. He left his apartment in the morning around 7 a.m. When he got home around 4:45 p.m., he tried to use his key to enter his ground floor unit and found it was deadbolted from the inside. He also heard the TV inside.

The man was able to access the apartment through his sliding patio door which was unlocked (the man said he normally keeps this door locked). Once inside, the man found nothing was out of place or taken, but the TV was on when he knew it was off when he left. There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment.

A similar incident happened to the man the week before. Avalon management is looking into the incident, as well as speaking with maintenance.
