Police: Woman steals more than $6,000 from hospital-ridden stepfather
Cara Tangreti, 26, of 118 Old Kings Highway S., was arrested on Tuesday, April 16, and charged with third-degree larceny, third-degree forgery and fraudulent use of an ATM, police said.
The arrest stems from a complaint received from Tangreti's stepfather on Nov. 29, 2012.
The complainant said he had been in the hospital from Oct. 16 to Oct. 28 and when he came home, he checked his bank statements and noticed that numerous checks had been forged, along with fraudulent ATM and debit card transactions.
The total amount of fraudulent transactions was $6,560.34, police said.
The complainant believed Tangreti had access to his checkbook and ATM card. She was questioned about the activity and admitted responsibility.
She posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 26.
